Hi Rodney, please tell us a little about you?
I’m from Louisville Kentucky. Never had a lot of money but I always had a lot of love.I’d spend the majority of my time in the city and during summer break I’d spend time on my great grandparents farm. Because of that I definitely learned how to conduct myself around people from various backgrounds. I always managed to fit in everywhere however I often felt out of place. I played sports like basketball and football but I always had a soft spot for the arts.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Smooth, Strategic, & Real
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I went to LA to pursue acting. And in the process of doing that, there had been a lot of downtime between gigs. So I figured I’d write scripts to help sharpen my storytelling skills. Those scripts became short stories, those stories became poems, and the poems became songs. Now we’re here with it!
How has this changed your life?
It’s given me another outlet to express my art which is always a beautiful thing.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Bright, Uplifting, & Universal
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Ultimately it was my grandfather. He spent the majority of his life living by the book, obeying all the rules, never really living life because he knew he had a family to take care of. But he did that so that his family could have the luxury of living on our own terms. So me doing this is taking advantage of that opportunity that has been gifted to me. And being that he passed away last year (May 11th, 2021) I’ve made it my mission to shine as bright as I can on this planet so that he sees me from wherever his spirit is now. And he’ll know his work didn’t go to waste.
Do you play any instrument?
I took a guitar class for 6 months, so no.
Do you ever get nervous?
Not nervous but definitely anxious.
Tell us about your new single “Going Home?”
It’s about being in a space where you may feel uncomfortable, under appreciated, or even irrelevant and just wanting to be in a place you call home. And that can be the place you live or with loved ones.
What’s the story behind the song?
I was joking around singing in a thick country accent. My mother and sister overheard me and jokingly suggested I’d make country music. When I told them I may just do it for real since they wanted to laugh at me. They quickly assured me that they were serious even though they were laughing.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
People being able to connect with the story that I’m telling.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
“The science of getting rich” by Wallace Wattles
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
A man can change his stars.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
The perfect time doesn’t exist so make your move right now. Often we wait for the perfect moment as if tomorrow is promised.
How would your best friend describe you?
Relentless.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
“Scatter Brain” because I always have 1 million and 1 things on my mind.

Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
On everyone’s nerves; because I’ll be on every screen, every radio, and the topic of too many conversations.
Favorite song? Why?
The next song I’m writing; because it makes me smile the closer I get to the end of it.
