Hi Thomas! Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi! I’m Thomas Day and I’m a 20-year-old artist who was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Honest, loyal, and deep.
How did you get your start in music?
I’ve been playing music my entire life and I started writing original songs when I was 11.
How has music changed your life?
Music has always been a big escape for me. I have been through a lot and music is an outlet for me to understand everything that has gone on in my life.
How would you describe your sound in 3 words?
Angsty, powerful, and sad.
Do you play any instruments?
I do! I play guitar, piano and drums.
Tell us about your new single “MASOCHIST.” What’s the story behind the song?
“MASOCHIST” was inspired by the scary feeling of first realizing you’re falling for someone, especially when you’ve suffered heartbreak in the past. This song is about accepting the truth that you’re so obsessed with someone that you don’t actually care if you get hurt.
What is the most rewarding part of being an artist?
Being able to put out music that helps and heal other people.
Tell us about the huge TikTok success you’ve had. What do you do to keep it going and growing even more?
I think authenticity will always prevail on TikTok. People love something real.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you’ve learned so far in life?
To forgive everyone and not hold grudges.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
To be okay with change.
If you weren’t pursuing music, what would you be up to right now?
I have always wanted to be a therapist, so definitely therapy.
What’s next for Thomas Day in 2023?
I’m just going to keep putting out beautiful music and I hope that everyone lives it.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Cava. It’s a Mediterranean chain.
And your favorite cheat food?
Zaxbys, a chicken chain we have in the South.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Finding peace with things that have happened in the past.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
John Lennon. I’d love to ask him about his songwriting process.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
On tour playing songs and helping to heal other people.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car or at karaoke?
“Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles.
