Hi Renée, please tell us a little about you?
Hi, I’m singer/songwriter. I have two kids ages four and six. I love adult colouring books and painting patterns. I own a Company called Wynterland and I believe in making dreams come true!
Describe yourself in 3 words
Thankful, soulful and blessed.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
I’d have to say my children. They make me want to be the best person I can be and also set them up for success. I love them so much. God bless them.
How did you get started in the business?
In my early days my dad used to manage me. He would drive me around to all my talent shows. He taught me a lot of the ins and outs about the business. My dad had some experience in the music industry.
Describe your sound in 3 words
R&B, Smooth, Soul
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
My influences in the early days were Whitney Houston. I remember when I first heard her sing. The feeling I had was unforgettable. I was glued to the television. I knew at that moment I wanted to sing for real.
Do you ever get nervous before performing?
I guess. You know that feeling you get before the first day of school? Or when you have to prepare a speech? That’s the feeling I get but once I get on stage and sing, it all goes away.
What is your next goal as a musician?
My next goal is to release an album and go on tour.
Do you have a Tour coming up or where we can see you performing?
I don’t have a tour booked but I’m in the process of confirming some shows. Stay tuned!
Now tell us about your new single “Speak?”
Speak is about transparency in a relationship. People can’t read your mind. You have to have the courage to speak your mind. Sometimes in relationships we argue and become passive aggressive, even sending subliminal posts online. Speak is about getting rid of all that and just encouraging people to talk to each other. Communications in a relationship is the key to success.
And how was working with Andreeena Mill on “Speak?”
Working with Andreena was a pleasure. We work together all the time and she really listens to my ideas and helps me make them come to life. She gets me and to have that is an artist’s dream come true.
What is it like working with some of the music industry’s most notable producers and songwriters such as Bigg Wu, Luney Tunez, Tone Mason, Oshea Hunter and Cory Rooney?
It was a dream come true. It was nice to work with people I admired and I was able to see first hand what it took to be successful in this business. In regards to Cory Rooney I worked out of his studio with O’Shea. I’d still love for him to produce a record for me. Maybe we’ll meet up again.
What can we expect of Renée Wynter in 2019/2020?
You can expect to see me performing and travelling around the globe to let people know I’m here.
What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
I will always love you by Whitney Houston.
Name one your strengths?
My determination.
What is your own definition of happiness?
My definition to happiness is whatever makes you happy. Only you know how you truly feel and I believe in life we deserve to have the best life possible. Nothing makes me happier than to have health and strength that is wealth to me.
Any loves other than music?
I love cooking, baking, arts and crafts, doodling and a good puzzle. A good puzzle is a gem.
Any exciting news you want to share with us?
I’m in the process of designing merchandise with my team. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we come up with.
What’s a typical day in your life like?
I wake up at 7am. I make breakfast and lunches for the boys. They wake up and I feed them, they brush their teeth, get dressed and we’re out the door by 9am. Hopefully without a hitch. Then I get a chance to work. I go to meetings or record in my basement. By 3:30pm I have to be back at the school to pick the boys up. By 5 pm we have dinner, then 7pm is bath time followed by bedtime at 8:30pm. After the boys go to bed i pick up where I left off and then until the next day, the same thing happens again…… usually.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Resting. Going to church then having a Sunday dinner with my entire family. We try to get together every Sunday to have family dinner.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Avocado
And your favorite cheat food?
Fried pickles
Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
My mom.
What would be a deal breaker on a first date?
Picking your nose or releasing any bodily functions at the table.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Mae Carol Jemison. I always wanted to go to space as a child and she became the first black woman to do it. I’d love to have a conversation with her and ask her what she did the night before to mentally prepare for her trip. She would be such a great advisor.
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Making music and helping other artists achieve their goals in the music industry.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I’d say sexy, artsy, chic all in one.
What do you think of Social Media?
I have a love/hate relationship with social media. Love it because it is a great tool to promote yourself. Hate it because people usually post this perfect picture about life and they take likes, comments, follows, unfollows way too personally. People become over consumed.
