Hi Victoria, please tell us a little about you?
My name is Victoria. I’m from Old Westbury, New York. I’m an 18-year-old freshman in college. I’m currently triple majoring in journalism, creative writing, and biological anthropology for pre-med. I’m writing two novels at the moment and hoping to pursue a side career in film. My hobbies are listening to music, traveling, photography, reading, and writing.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Nostalgic, dark, guitar-based.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Some of my influences include artists such as You Me At Six, Aerosmith, SYML, Fleetwood Mac, Whitesnake, and Metallica. I chose to make music for fun, and also writing songs can be very therapeutic when you want to get your emotions out.
Do you play any instrument?
Piano, ukulele, banjo, and improving my guitar.
Do you ever get nervous?
All the time.
Tell us about your debut single “Blue?”
I wrote and composed “Blue” in my bedroom in less than a day after going through a pretty bad friend breakup.
What’s the story behind the song?
This song is about trusting someone in a close friendship/relationship and them going behind your back and talking badly about you. It’s about the feeling of heartbreak and devastation that comes with being betrayed by someone you loved and believed they could do you no wrong because you never saw it coming.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Learning something new everyday and expressing myself through creative freedom.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
I’d tell my younger self to stop caring what others think and don’t let anyone or anything get in the way of pursuing my goals.
How would your best friend describe you?
Spontaneous, adventurous, introverted.
What’s next for Victoria Ivy Embers in 2023?
Starting sophomore year of college and hoping to continue working on new projects and ideas.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Acai bowls.
And your favorite cheat food?
Raw cookie dough.
How would you explain your fashion style?
My fashion style is extremely subjective and changes constantly depending on mood, location, event, and season. Something I wear to school would not be the same thing I’d wear to an event, and something I’d wear in a small town would not be the same thing I’d wear in a big city.
What is your own definition of happiness?
My definition of happiness is being content within yourself and where you’re at in life.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet Stevie Nicks, she’s been my biggest inspiration for many years.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
My dream holiday would be to travel around the Arctic. I would go alone. Solo travel in isolated regions is extremely magical and soothing.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
In 5 years, I hope to see myself completing my bachelors degree in my triple-major. I hope to have at least one book published, continue pursuing my dream in film and writing, and get into a good grad/med program.
What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Dear Maria, Count Me In – All Time Low
What do you think of Social Media?
Social Media definitely has its upsides and its downsides. It’s a great way to connect with others and spread ideas.
