Describe yourself in 3 words?
Imaginative, Rebellious, Passionate
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I won a Fashion TV host contest in Thailand and as part of the job I sang at company sponsored events.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Evocative dark-pop storytelling
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
My mother was a key influence who inspired me to find a creative outlet for my rich imagination.
Tell us about your new single “Kiss Me Amnesia?”
“Kiss Me Amensia” is a dark alt-pop song about the ghosts of the past and the effects of unhealed trauma. The music video for the single explores two co-existing worlds, Reality and Amnesia World, that connect the present with a suppressed past of toxic relationships, repressed feelings and painful experiences. The message is that if you don’t make peace with your past it will always haunt your future reality.
What’s the story behind the songs?
The songs on my truth she told EP are narratives on the trials and tribulations of what it is like to be human and how our experiences shape us. We all have our own stories to tell of good times and bad times. We tend to focus too much on the bad times, but one thing I believe in is hope. You will find hope in every one of my songs if you have the right attitude and learn from our shared experiences.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
My greatest lesson was given to me by my father – big problems are small problems and small problems are no problems. Life is tough and we will always encounter challenges in our journey, but we all have the power to make it better and create a wonderful future
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
People will judge you no matter what you do or don’t do. There will always be “noise”. What is most important is to be your authentic self, do what you truly believe in, and always do your best!
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
“Chaos Generator” – This was a nickname given to me by one of my ex’s, because I am impulsive at times, I like to challenge conventional norms, and I am also a perfectionist so I change my mind a lot.
What’s next for Roskamala in 2023?
I am working on my follow-up EP to truth she told, which I plan to call lies she told. My next EP will have more upbeat songs including some dance and rap tracks.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Salmon
And your favorite cheat food?
Instant Noodle
How would you explain your fashion style?
What I wear reflects my emotional state. On dark days, I dress like a rebellious teenager. Then on happy days, I love wearing elegant fashion, beautiful handbags, and at least 4’ high heels.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Peaceful days with no stress
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Doris Day. She is iconic and multi-talented as a singer and actor. And her songs always make me feel like I am living on a happy moon.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I am a musical artist, so I can envision being either wildly successful or broke and penniless.
Favorite song? Why?
“Bohemian Rhapsody”. It is just the most genius musical track ever and Freddy Mercury is one of my biggest idols.
