Describe yourself in 3 words?
Love, Light, Eternal.
How did you get started into acting?
I did drama camps and school plays growing up for fun, but it wasn’t until an acting teacher told me I had true talent and could do it as a job that I took it seriously.
How has this changed your life?
I feel blessed to have found what I believe to be my true calling in life, there’s nothing else professionally I’d like to do more.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
The best part is expressing myself through art, and hopefully bringing joy, excitement, or an escape to an audience. The worst part is having to say goodbye to a cast and crew after wrapping a project. You really get incredibly close to them, pretty fast, because your sharing intimate work for hours on end. I call it wrap day blues.
How do you prepare for a role?
It always comes down to story. Do I believe this story has to be told and how does my character help tell the story. Then from there I discover who the character is and find a through line between me and them, to truthfully embody the character.
Tell us about your lead work on TV One thriller, STALKER?
I really was drawn to the movie because the story has a lot more depth than I’ve seen in typical Thrillers. At the heart of it, it’s really about family ties and redemption. I play Shelly and she’s a straight shooter who says and does what she feels whether she’s right or wrong. She has a lot of pain she’s carrying and justifiably so, so I really focused on humanizing her while also finding fun moments for her in the midst of all the heaviness of her circumstances.
What other projects have you been part of?
My first job where I felt like, okay I’m really doing this, was Law & Order SVU. I’m from New York and doing that show is like a right of passage for NY actors, so it was pretty cool. I also really enjoyed doing Luke Cage, it was dope to be part of the Marvel Universe. Plus it was shot in Harlem, a neighborhood I hung out a lot in growing up, so it felt like a full circle moment.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I like playing multi-faceted characters of diverse backgrounds, stories, and genres. Skies the limit as long as it’s good story telling.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
I get to do what I love for a living while also hopefully moving viewers to laugh, cry, or just escape from their day.
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
Craft is always first, everything else is second. Focus on the work, be the best actor you can be, because the opportunities always come, so you want to be ready for them.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
Everyone is going through their own stuff, so try not to take things too personally. Rejection is part of this business so you have to stand firm in knowing who you are and your abilities. Have thick skin but keep an open heart.
How would your best friend describe you?
As a true ride or die. I would go to the ends of the earth for the people I love.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
“Riding this thang until the Wheels fall off” LOL because for better or worse I’m committed to art for life.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Stay true to yourself, you really only get one life. Take the risk and the rest will work itself out.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
The subtle art of not giving a fuck.
What’s next for Tationna Bosier in 2022?
More acting roles, I’m excited to be behind the camera for the first time as a writer, and I’m dropping new music this summer.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I guess I can’t say Pizza.
And your favorite cheat food?
I guess I can say Pizza Lol
What is your own definition of happiness?
Internally satisfied with who I am.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Prince. Need I say more?
Best advice ever given?
Your words create your world.
Do you support any charity?
ADAPT – they service the underserved and vulnerable community of individuals that are differently abled.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Doing what ever it is I love in 5 years from now at the height of my potential.
Favorite song? Why?
ADORE by Prince. It’s the most romantic song ever made.
What do you think of Social Media?
It’s a great way to stay connected but be sure to step away to live real life.
