Check out our interview with wildly popular gaming content creator Fabu Rocks.
Her “Youngest” title stretches far and wide from being the Youngest Girl Gamer on Twitch to the Youngest Variety Power of Young Hollywood Event Participant to name a few. Fabu is a wildly popular gaming content creator with partnerships secured by her much older male counterparts. In addition to her content creation, Fabu is one of the over 6 million kids who have been diagnosed with ADHD. There are only two forms of therapy for ADHD behavior and medication. Fabu and her family have elected content creation as a form of daily therapy for her ADHD, putting her in a unique position to share not only her journey as a creator on the world’s most popular platforms but her experience as a neurodiverse teen dealing with ADHD.

Hi FabuRocks, please tell us a little about you?
I’m currently 14 years old, I have ADHD, I’m a gamer, youtuber, livestreamer and podcaster.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Creative, self-aware, and ADHDer
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I started creating content when I was 7 years old, to help me overcome my speech delay and cope with my ADHD daily. After years of conventional speech therapy I was not improving. My parents found that once I started using gaming and creating content as a behavior therapy, I improved significantly. I started initially creating YouTube videos which then led to live streaming.
How has this changed your life?
It has changed my life drastically and also my parents’ lives have changed completely. I’ve sacrificed many things to be where I’m at and in order for me to continue doing what love.
Creating content has changed my life for the better, right now I am able to speak, carry a conversation and be understood.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to be a content creator and a gamer?
In reality, no one influenced me to become a content creator. Me creating content is behavior therapy which has helped me overcome my speech delay and learn to cope with ADHD daily.
Now let’s talk about Twitch and how big your name and exposure has grown over the last few months.
At the beginning of 2023, things have changed from what I was doing last year. I’ve started to stream on another platform other than Facebook. I’ve been streaming regularly on twitch. Twitch was one of those platforms that I streamed on when I was 8. The TOS back then allowed for an 8 year old to stream but not these days.
When did you decided to create your own channel?
My parents created the channel for me because I was too young to have my own social media accounts. Currently, I had to start from scratch and create new accounts under my name so that I can be partnered and verified as myself. I even have a new account on Twitch where I’ve started to stream regularly on. It’s called… itsmeFabu.
What is different from your account or style of playing vs other famous gamers?
First of all, I’m a variety streamer and have always been one. It’s very hard to create a community when you play different games. Many famous gamers stay in one genre or one game, to create a community. I feel I bring a different perspective to the gaming industry as a young female ADHDer. I am also very vocal about my ADHD and is not afraid to talk about the challenges I face daily.
How often do you release new content/play online?
I currently live stream on Twitch 5 pm Est time Monday through Friday and I have been posting around 3 reels a week on Instagram.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part of my work is seeing how much progress I have made in my ability to speak and how I have been an inspiration to others who have ADHD / mental health issues.
As a popular gamer and influencer, you are followed by so many people. How do you feel about that pressure of doing always the right thing, and encourage people to follow their dreams?
I want to make something clear, I don’t always do the right thing because I 14 and I make mistakes and I’ve accepted and embraced that and I’m not ashamed of not getting it right all the time, and I think this inspires people because they see I’m not perfect, I have ADHD and I’m doing it, so if I could do it, then they could do it.
What is the feeling to be the “Youngest Girl Gamer on Twitch,” “Youngest Variety Power of Young Hollywood Event Participant,” and “Youngest FaceBook Gaming Partner?”
I’m not going to lie it feels weird to be the youngest and always around gamers who are 20 years old and over. I would like to inspire other younger content creators and continue to open doors for other young content creators like me. At the variety event, I was 13 and the youngest. Everyone else was much older and in their twenties. I would love to see a time when many other young content creators are recognized.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
I love to read and read frequently. The books I read though are ADHD related so I can not only educate myself but also share that knowledge with others in my videos and streams. I do have a great business advisor always next to me, my dad, who I’ve learned a lot from. I am even considering studying business after high school because I have a natural business mind and intuition.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
The greatest lesson I have learned so far is I have seen many streamers come and go. I’ve been doing this for over 5 years from being on YouTube to Twitch to Mixer to Facebook and now back to Twitch, and I’ve seen that those who stayed streaming are those with support even a 25-year-old needs support from someone. To make it in this industry you need the support of your parents, family or friends. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t because of my parents.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
I would tell her to keep doing what she’s doing, and that she is going to have a great future. To believe in herself, and that there is nothing wrong with her and she’s perfect. I would tell her this because when I was young, I thought something was wrong with me and I would like to tell her that she will help many people and that there is nothing wrong with her.
How would your best friend describe you?
She would describe me as sweet, funny, competitive, generous and awkward.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
The Crazy and Unpredictable Adventures of Fabu… because every day in my life is a little unpredictable and crazy.
What’s next for FabuRocks in 2023?
I have so many things planned for 2023. Currently we are recording season 2 of the FabuRocks Podcast “Live Stream Therapy” after a successful Season 1 “YouTube Therapy”. Not many people know that my mom FabuMom has ADHD too. This is why we decided to create a Podcast, with the same title of the educational video series ADHD with FABU, where FabuMom and I will openly talk about the everyday struggles and rewards of having ADHD from the point of view of a teen content creator with ADHD and that of an accomplished adult ADHDer with a Masters in Mental health, a truly unique daughter – mother perspective. On top of all of this, I am working on the creation of a book series about guess what? YES! ADHD… and my experience as a teen that uses various forms of content creation from educational videos, podcasting, live streaming, gaming, writing and more as a form of therapy in order to cope with ADHD, every day. I want to keep growing the FabuArmy to continue helping young content creators get their start in this industry, and continue being a panelist, talking about my experience as a content creator with ADHD at gaming cons and conventions.
What is your favorite healthy food?
My favorite healthy food, is probably avocado toast I love it a lot.
And your favorite cheat food?
My favorite cheat food is sushi or Cuban food.
How would you explain your fashion style?
Honestly, my fashion style is all over the place. I would say it’s a cross between street wear and comfy gamer.
What is your own definition of happiness?
For me happiness is when I’m with my family and surrounded by love
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Markiplier, because I have been watching his content since I was very young and find him to be an inspiration for me, not only because he too has ADHD. I believe he is an example of a content creator who has set a high bar on quality content that one can aspire to. Not to mention he is so funny and entertaining.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
My dream holiday is going to Spain with my parents.
Best advice ever given?
Since I was 7 years old, I have ended every video and live stream saying, “Just be yourself, because that is Fabulicious.” For me, this is significant because society seems to have a negative opinion of those who game and those with mental health issues. It has been an important reminder for me and anyone watching my content to be themselves no matter what because we are perfect just the way we are.
Do you support any charity?
I believe in using my platform to bring awareness to different charities who are making a positive impact in the lives of people. In the past, I used to donate my birthday to live stream for Extra Life and most recently I have participated in friendly tournaments which raised money for homeless families. I hope to in the future work more closely with charities who are focused on bringing awareness to mental health issues.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I see myself as famous and helping a lot more people. I also see myself in college learning business.
Favorite song? Why?
My fav song is You Need to Calm Down by Taylor Swift because it has a positive message.
What do you think of Social Media?
I think social media is good in moderation, you could easily get addicted to it, but its good.
Where we can follow you?
You can find me at faburocks.com, faburocks on Twitter, YouTube and Twitch and now that I’m 14 I have my own social media accounts on twitter, tiktok, twitch, and youtube… itsmefabu
