After the enormous success that was LA Swim Week 2015, the team is returning to our beautiful city once again for a second installment of the best in swimwear, fashion, beach life, beauty, health and fitness from around the world.
This year’s show will be hosted by Stephanie Sical – current Miss Guatemala USA title holder and Miss Earth 2016 candidate – and tennis player, actor, writer and model Torrey Gambill, at the Skirball Cultural Center, on July 19, 2016. Between them, Torrey and Stephanie will be serving up a festival of treats for swimwear fans, including musical performances by Medi EM with model and TV/Film actress Dustin Quick, Bumi Benjamin, with a special live spoken word performance and guests Sara Solstice and Tyran McRae, a health and wellness seminar from Linda Kessler Fitness trainer, and a glitzy cocktail reception.
The event will open at noon with a summer pop up shop, sip, network and shop.
This underlines the importance of culture and lifestyle to the LA Swim team; both of these are, after all, major components of the beachlife that is so close to LA Swim founder Connie Borja’s heart. However, it wouldn’t be LA Swim Week without fashion, particularly fashion of the swimwear, beachwear and bikini varieties.
One of the event’s centerpieces is its sumptuous fashion show, during which Connie the LA Swim team and sponsors:LA Swim Magazine, Geisha Studio, Salon Sessions, I see360, embellish by Hollie, Skinny popcorn, Beverly Hills Tanning, Pure Gold Collagen, Ojuko cold pressed juice, Cryo HealthCare and Ellen Benfatti showcase the best swimwear designers from the local area and beyond. This year is no different, and the treats in store will astound even the most hardened of swimwear aficionados.
Rocking the runway this year will be some returning favorites. Greek swimwear label Beachflirt22 will be back in LA showcasing their latest collection, as will The 8th Continent from Japan, who went down a storm at last year’s show, and up-and-coming local brand Amour. Also among those returning is style stalwart Leonisa, who is celebrating 60 years of stunning fashion at LA Swim Week.
Of course, there are new faces in abundance. Palo Rosa Beachwear, Lady Swim by Yogii, Glam Clothing and Pauleth Swimwear will all be making their eagerly awaited first appearances at the event, alongside Australia’s Duskii Active and young one-to-watch Nessy Swimwear. Closing out the show will be a performance from local rock band, Orwellian Daze, who promises to provide a suitably jaw-dropping curtain call.
This year the LA Swim team welcomes sponsor ShoeDazzle and invites you to watch the drama and excitement from the comfort of your own home. Streaming Media Live – one of the show’s sponsors – will be providing an exclusive online stream beginning at 8:00pm on July 19, at streamingmedidalive.com/lasw.html. Tune in, get involved and don’t forget to keep up with all the latest with @LASwimWeek on Instagram and Twitter.
