Describe yourself in 3 words?
Clumsy, Creative, Caring.
What’s your background?
I’m half filipino, Irish and Polish.
When did you start in the business?
I recently started the blog from a lot of people who follow me on Instagram asking where I got my shoes, how I did my hair, what lip color I was wearing. I knew I’d be coming into the game from left field so I made sure to stay true to the comedic and relatable tone I carry in my videos and use that as the angle for meganbatoon.com
What is fun and rewarding about what you do? And what’s not?
I get to make things. Everyday. As a former art school student, this is the dream. Being able to support yourself by creating art that didn’t exist before you made it is a dream come true. That’s definitely a reward in my book. The only part that isn’t fun about what I do is balancing a crazy schedule. Most times I open up my calendar, I get overwhelmed. Even with that, it’s hard to complain because most of the time I get to be exactly who I am with whoever I am working with or on.
Now what about your YouTube channel? How often do you upload new content?
I upload two videos a week, one is along the lines of cooking, dance, fan interaction, talk show format and the other is a weekly recap of life.
When you started did you imagine having more than half a million subscribers and very loyal followers?
Of course the more people you can reach is a goal to look forward to, but you never expect it. I’m so grateful that people have stumbled upon my channel and stuck with me this far. There is much more fun to be had and things to learn for all of us.
How do you manage all that success?
Knowing that people are watching everything I do is definitely nerve-racking at times, but if I just keep in mind that if I truly enjoy what I’m doing and making, other people will find the beauty or funny in it. Obviously, not everyone is going to agree with me, but there will be an abundance of people that can share these ideas with me and those are the people I hope I can positively affect with the platform I’ve earned.
What does fashion mean to you?
I think a lot can be said by your sense of style without you speaking. I feel like fashion is an opportunity to make statements of who you are. I don’t push too many boundaries, but I like to wrap myself in fabrics that align with the aesthetic that I like. I’m always in lots of whites, neutrals, denim, minimal but classy and sharp pieces.
Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
I find myself gravitating towards Kendall Jenner’s street style more often than anyone else. I also tend to keep a pretty natural makeup look on a daily basis, so that lines up with her as well.
And now about your dancing career, how did you started?
Initially I was cheerleading on an all-star competition team and ended up being convinced that I had rhythm. I joined the dance team and I fell in love with it from there.
What projects are you currently working on?
My YouTube channel has been my main focus for a few years, but now I’m trying to expand into blogging to lay groundwork for the future.
Who was your role model as a child?
It’s hard to remember years ago, I can barely remember what I had for lunch yesterday, so probably the Olsen Twins.
What are your makeup bag staples when traveling?
Eyebrow pencil, SPF, and chapstick are the absolute necessities. Anything else is a luxury.
How did you stay fit?
Mostly at home workouts or solo dance sessions.
What is your favorite healthy food?
If we’re allowed wheat in this tier of health, hands down- Avocado Toast.
And your favorite cheat food?
French Fries for ever.
In five years from now, where do you see yourself and your career?
I’d love to improve both the quantity and quality of my content while building a strong foundation for my own line of travel goods, homegoods, apparel, accessories in a major retailer.
What music we can find in your iPod?
Lots of acoustic jams, current hip hop / rap, and a good amount of alternative rock from the 2000’s (but that goes without saying).
What do you like to watch on Tv?
I don’t watch too much TV, but I will always love The Office.
3 things you can’t leave home without?
Phone, water, chapstick.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Waking up without an alarm clock, lots of natural light, breakfast or brunch outside with a good friend, and either some pampering or stand up comedy mixed in.
What do you think of Social Media?
I love that we can share our thoughts, moments, and art through it. I do think there are boundaries that need to be kept with personal life so that we don’t all go absolutely crazy, but like everything- moderation is key.
