Megan Lee has taken your television by storm with her vibrant personality (and outfits!) on Nickelodeon’s hit series “Make it Pop!” The series revolves around three very different teenage girls who come together to form a K-Pop-inspired band. In this series, Megan portrays Sun-Hi, the energetic and self-proclaimed “star on the rise” whose one true love is her cell phone.
Over the years, Megan’s musical style has shifted to what she describes as “urban pop.” She utilizes her YouTube channel to release both original music and covers of popular songs, and she just released her brand new single “Stronger”.

Hi Megan please tell us a little about you?
I’m an actress and singer-songwriter born and raised in LALAland!
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Energetic. Workaholic. Dork.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Northridge which is in the San Fernando Valley! It is very peaceful there.
How did you get started acting?
I was always singing and performing since I could remember. I did school talent shows, community musicals and one day at 8 years old, I told my mom seriously that I wanted to be an actor. She said to wait and think about it for a few years to see if I had a strong enough passion for it (plus we didn’t know where to start or look) then 2 years later, I got my first agent after submitting some pictures to different agencies and I started doing many different commericials, short films and shows.
Did your family support your decision to become an actress?
They were always very supportive about me following my passion and dreams. Of course, they were worried about me starting in this industry because they were aware of how tough and dangerous it can be for young actors. But, I was very blessed to have such an amazing family and group of friends and mentors to keep me grounded and remind me where I come from.
How do you prepare for a role?
I read A LOT. I read the script whether I get the full script or just sides over and over again. I think to myself how I can relate to the character through my own personal experiences or through people I know and make mental notes so I can be more like the character when I go into an audition or on screen.
Tell us about your role as Sun-Hi in “Make it Pop!”?
Sun-Hi Song is an energetic ball of energy who’s a social media diva and loves to sing and dance. She is the lead singer of the band XO-IQ and cares about the band and her friends very much!
[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21761″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]
What’s your favorite part working on “Make it Pop!”?
The fact that I get to sing dance and act all in one project is a huge blessing and dream come true!
We also have a beautiful and amazing family of cast and crew that makes days on set go by so fast.
How did you got selected for the show?
I sent in a self-taped audition video and after a few months I got a call for a Skype call back! The reason the callback was on Skype, was because at that time, I was living in Korea doing music. A few months after the Skype call, I was called in to go a chemistry read with the final selection of actors in Toronto, and then I booked the job!
Who is your best friend on the set?
We are all pretty much close friends on set, so it’s hard to choose just one person.
What we can expect for season 2?
Season 2 has a few new characters, and plot twists, relationships, location and MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC. I am honored to say I was able to write a few songs for this season as well! I wrote songs called: Tomorrow is ours, All the Love, and Situation Wild!
What role would you love to play that you haven’t yet?
I’d LOVE to play a Superhero or any type of hero that kicks bad guys butts one day. I’m training in martial arts to prepare myself for that role ;D
What advice would you give to those who want to be in this business?
Don’t be fooled by what you see on the tv screen. Behind all the glamour and lights, are years and years of sweat, tears, rejection and patience. If you LOVE it and not simply “like it”, then all sacrifices will reward you.
What are the 3 things you can’t live without?
Movies, music, mom. Hey! all those things star with M!
And now about your musical career, tell us about your latest single “Stronger”?
“Stronger” is the single from my upcoming album titled “I AM”. It is about believing that you are stronger than any negativity than comes your way.
How do you manage to have both careers?
Being an actor, I have to wait all the time. Especially as an Asian American Actor, there aren’t as many opportunities to go out for certain roles and auditions, so when I do have time in between, I work on my music! I think as a professional, training is a huge part in my career and I take it very seriously. Whenever I’m not going for auditions, or on set, I practice my music, go to acting class and feed myself with more information and education everyday!
How’s a typical day in your life?
A typical day is either being in the home studio writing and playing music, or prepping for my next audition!. On more chill days, I love to watch movies and Korean dramas!
Something people don’t know about you?
A lot of young viewers of Make It Pop believe that I am really like Sun-Hi in real life. I do have some similarities to her except, she is me times a THOUSAND. I write all my own music as I shoot, edit and produce all my own youtube videos!
Five years from now you will be….
25 years old and continuing to do music and acting in films!
What kind of music do you like? And don’t like?
I love ALL kinds of music. My heart lies in Soul/R&B, but lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Hip Hop and EDM!
Do you have any hobbies?
Besides doing music, I love to knit, read, and watch Harry Potter movies.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Netflix and Pizza.
Do you support any charity?
I support Red Cross and do volunteer work at local churches!
What do you think of the Social Media?
It is a HUGE digital world that can be amazing and scary at the same time. People’s lives are more exposed and sometimes because the Internet spreads things so fast, it can be a good or bad thing. I use social media daily myself and I think it is an incredible asset to connect with fans all over the world, but I am afraid about social media taking over some real human lives.
