With the massive dance music revolution sweeping the industry over the last few years making household names of DJ’s such as Diplo, Skrillex and Calvin Harris, MORTEN presence playing alongside these stars on the electronic dance circuit has been felt far beyond his native Denmark over the last 10 years. A versatile DJ and producer, Morten fuses tech beats with melodic sounds throughout his productions and this year has already garnered Morten some powerful moments in the spotlight.
While making his first appearance on 5 time #1 DJ in the World Armin Van Buuren’s Armada Music with ‘Himalaya,’ he scored huge DJ and tastemaker support across the globe from Avicii, David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia’s Axwell. His follow up single “Ukali” debuted on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records furthering his hot streak of original material and earning the title as one of Tomorrowland Festival’s official anthems of 2015.
But the year isn’t over for this rare specimen of Danish club heavyweight. With his highly anticipated next release “Stick Up” with legendary actress and singer Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers) and Karma Fields out on November 30th, there isn’t an end in sight for this humbly handsome Scandinavian star, check out his interview below!

Hi Morten, Tell us a little about you!
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
When I was 13, I joined this youth club in Denmark, and it was there that I learned how to mix two songs together. When I turned 16, I saved my money and bought two Technic turntables and started practicing every day at my mom’s house. When I turned 18, I finally had my first club gig and I’ve been DJing every weekend since.
What is your musical background?
My dad was a teacher in piano and wood flute, unlucky for me I learned wood flute instead of the piano.
Do you play any instruments?
I got a drum set when I was 6 years old and learned how to play them during my childhood.
Which artists and styles inspired and influenced you?
I have always been listening to hip hop and rap and I really love 2Pac and Bob Marley. House music was something that got under my skin as I got older. Electronic artists such as David Guetta, Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz influenced me in different ways as I listened to more electronic music.
Best stage/party/club you have ever play?
Distortion Festival in Denmark has always been so good to me and in the States LIV Nightclub in Miami and Marquee NYC are some of my favorite gigs.
Funniest thing that ever happened at an event?
I played a club and a fight started between some girls so I put on the record “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and the fight stopped and everybody started laughing. It’s was quite funny, no one can fight during that song.
Tell us about the success of your hit “Himalaya”
“Himalaya” is just a great dance track. I love the melody to the song and the drop is so epic, it’s a fun tune for me to play. It also got huge support from DJs around the world, so it feels good to know everyone feels the same about it.
And about remixing Adele’s “Hello”?
I think we made a really good remix of it and I’m super proud of the outcome. The harmony and the transition in the mix is perfect to me. I love Adele and it was important for me to keep her vocal really in focus, but still make a track you can dance to, since the original is pretty slow.
Now tell us about “Stick Up” and how did you end working with Juliette Lewis?
My manager got me in a session with her, as I’ve always been a fan of her work. She was an amazing artist to create with and an even more amazing person. After our studio session we met up with Karma Field’s and he added his magic on this record and the rest is history.
Best advice ever given?
Move to Los Angeles.
Do you have a role model?
I really love how David Guetta is as an person, towards his fans, and the people around him.
What is your favorite song? And why?
There are too many to name. That’s a tough question for a DJ.

Keep learning new skills to be a better producer and a performer, I want to be the best.

My Laptop, being in the Dj booth and my fans.
Name one your strengths?
I’m a really good technical DJ.
How is a normal day in your life?
Work with music on my laptop or in a studio, workout and probably traveling somewhere.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
2pac, I would love to tell him how much his music meant to me when I was a kid.
