Our interview with stunning supermodel, actress, and America’s next reality television obsession Tia Shipman.
Newly cast in the second season of E! Network’s hugely popular reality series “WAGS,” (premiering Sunday, June 26th.) Tia is thrown into the wild world of being a pro athlete’s girlfriend as she balances her high profile relationship with a thriving modeling and acting career.
Tia Shipman is signed with the prestigious Ford Models agency where she travels the world modeling for the leading fashion designers and top beauty brands including Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka, Michael Costello, Walter Mendez, Mac Cosmetics, Sephora, Maybelline, and is featured in top editorial spreads including Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire. Tia was also chosen to model in Lifetime’s hit fashion series competition “Project Runway.” In addition to extremely successful modeling career, Tia is also an extremely accomplished actress with recent roles on FOX’s hit comedy series “Grandfathered,” ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” and CBS’ “The Bold & Beautiful.”

Hi Tia thanks for this interview. Please tell us a little about you?
I am from Maryland and I’m the youngest of four. I did not play sports growing up. But I was a ballet/ Modern dancer.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Strong, Genuine, and, Sweet
Who was your role model as a child?
I actually had a few. Halle Berry was one of my role models.
What is the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night?
The first thing I do in the morning is check my phone. The last thing I do at night is set my alarm on my phone.
How did you get started in modeling?
I was scouted as a child.
How has modeling changed your life?
The day I really started modeling was the day I got my passport. I am an amazing traveler because of my modeling career.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part of my work is I get to travel all over the world and meet new people as I go along.
Now tell us about “WAGS” and what we can expect on the new season?
WAGS stands for Wives and girlfriends of sports stars. The show follows the lives of eight of us WAGS and gives an inside look into our lifestyle, the good and the bad. I am the rookie on the show this season. Viewers will get to see the dynamic between me and the other wags and how I balance a career and a relationship. I am usually really private about my life and the show really gives an inside look that you would not find anywhere else.
How did you get selected to be in the show?
I am friends with Nicole Williams and when Machete reached out to me to follow my crazy life I was totally on board!
How it is to now having less privacy and showing the viewers more of you and your BF?
I never thought I would enjoy it so much but I really do. It took some getting use to in the beginning but now I love it. It’s sort of therapeutic for me to open up and share a piece of my world
What’s your advice for the newer models?
My advice for rookie models in the game is to never give up and remember it’s never personal. You are more than enough whether you book the job or not.
Who are some of your favorite models and designers?
Du Juan is one of my favorite models. Her fashion spreads are always so incredible to view. My favorite designer is Chanel! I love what the brand stands for it’s empowering to women.
Biggest beauty inspiration? Why?
My biggest beauty inspiration is my Daddy. He is beautiful inside and out. He inspires me to be kind and great because that’s where beauty really stems from anyway.
How do you keep fit?
I enjoy doing yoga. It’s my passion really. And a little bit always goes a long way.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Yams are my favorite food. And I just recently found out yams are good for vitamin C. Bring on the Yams please.
And your favorite cheat foods?
I do not really have cheat foods. I believe in giving your body what it wants but in moderation.
How is a normal day in your life?
A normal day in my life would consist of an early call time and getting home from a shoot day after seven because of the LA traffic. hehehe
What is your idea of a perfect Sunday?
My idea of a perfect Sunday is waking up cuddling with my Boo. Then getting ready for brunch with my Boo. Lastly watching all of my favorite Sunday shows, while we eat the dinner my Boo made us.
Best advice ever given?
It takes years to build a great reputation for yourself and seconds to destroy it.
Name 3 things you can’t live without?
My family. My friends. My lip gloss
Any plans for 2016 that you want to share with us?
Watching WAGS and loving what I see when I watch it.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I would love to have a successful clothing store
What’s your favorite show on T.V. right now?
Game of Thrones! Khaleesi is my favorite character. If I could be anyone in real like it would definitely be Khaleesi. The HBO Khaleesi not the novel version.
Favorite song? Why?
“In Common” by Alicia keys. The song is so powerful and gets me in a positive mood.
What music can we find on your iPod?
Everything from Bjork, Tchaikovsky, Jay Z to Kim Burrell. My music choices are eclectic.
What do you think of Social Media?
I enjoy social media I think it’s a good remedy for us to keep up with one another. Although, I think it gets in the way of special moments you’ll never get back
