I think I’m very much a self-starter, I have always been super ambitious and would admire actors and models in the media. I’ve always aspired to be successful like them.
When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
Firstly I wanted to be a veterinarian, however that didn’t work out as I am too emotional and would not have been able to cope with it. My second choice was to be a top model, which luckily I managed to achieve.
What did you learn from your biggest failure? (if any)
Good question! Firstly, you cannot trust everyone, especially in this industry. Keep your cards close to your chest, make moves in silence and let your accomplishments do the talking.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Feeling successful in my career and achieving the goals I set for myself.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”24148″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]How and when did you start into modeling and fitness?
I started modelling as a baby and did adverts as a child. My mother then focused me on school and academics. At 19 I took part in the Miss Universe Ireland Pageant. From there I did TV shows, cover shoots in national magazines and commercials. I have a huge passion for fitness, health and beauty.
What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?
Winning Irish Model of the year 2015 and of course getting featured in Sports Illustrated, Maxim and other top international magazines.
What is your workout routine these days?
I do Yoga 2x a week and I walk about 1 hour a day. I do high intensity sprints 1-2x a week as this helps keep fat levels low. I’m not a huge fan of endurance type exercises, they can cause wear and tear on the joints and often this is irreversible. My routine is relatively easy and fits in with my busy lifestyle.
Why do you think Yoga is so important these days?
Yoga is so wonderful for many reasons! It tones muscles, raises the heartrate, calms the mind, increases flexibility and enhances positivity! There are many levels and styles, so its suitable for both the beginner and the advanced yogi. It’s also pretty fun to train your body, with the passing weeks you will grow and be able to do the more complex postures. I am almost able to do a headstand.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Any type of green vegetable! I love broccoli, peas, cabbage. These foods are high in nutrients and antioxidants. Aim to have 3 servings of vegetables daily. Vegetables are key to maintaining optimal health.
And your favorite cheat food?
So many! I guess Sushi is my favorite, although I know that’s not so bad. I also like fast food such a cheese fries and coca cola! Everything in moderation and I don’t deny myself treats either.
Now tell us about your Model Body Guide?
It’s a practical guide that teaches people how to lose weight and keep it off for good. Too many diets in the media are so extreme now, low carb, high fats, cutting out entire food groups. This is not healthy. I have been on so many diets throughout my years as a model, and none of them worked. Eating real foods, keeping a balance, moving more and treating yourself regularly are key. Success is achieved in your daily routine.
What magazines have you been in over the course of your career?
Quite a few! Maxim, Daily Mail, Sunday World, The Sun, The Star, The Mirror, Life Magazine, Irish Independent, FHM, Sports Illustrated and so on.
And which magazine or project is still on your bucket list?
My film career is now my main focus. My goal is to be on a hit TV show. I love acting and playing different characters is such a great escape from reality. It’s important to do what you love. We only have one life to live, gotta make the best of it.
In five years from now, where do you see yourself and your career?
I see myself as an established actress living in LA, hopefully engaged or married and just enjoying what each day brings.
Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
There are so many. I love the brunette model Emily Ratajkowski, she is so pretty and natural. I’m also a fan of Megan Fox, she is so striking. I think any female who is confident in her own skin is attractive.
Who are some of your favorite models and designers, and why?
Doutzen is a natural beauty and I like her fresh look. I also like Ashley Graham from SI, she is a true beauty and rocks her natural curves plus seems like a fun person too! My favorite designers are Chanel, Tom Ford and Valentino. I like sleek lines and classic tailoring.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Day to day I’m pretty casual, usually spotted in a sundress, cute sandals and wavy hair. Comfort is key. As I live in LA, it’s so hot here that girly dresses are ideal. I also like to wear ripped shorts and a cute rocker t at times. If I am going to an event I like slick lines and good tailoring, a well fitted black dress, plum lip, and heels.
What are your makeup bag staples when traveling?
Good foundation, mascara, lip gloss and blush! Light make up looks best when travelling I always find, and I keep the smoky eyes and heavy glam for night time.
What is fun and rewarding about modeling? And what is not?
It’s always so fun when you get the final images back and see them published. It’s nice to see all the hard work coming together, I really enjoy that. On the downside, it can be long hours, chilly conditions and quite tiring! On the plus side its usually fun on set, you get to meet great people and every day is different.
What’s your advice for the newer models?
View yourself like a business. Be polite and sweet to everyone on set, from the hair person to the photographer, we are all equal in this life. Treat people with respect and kindness. Never have an attitude because you won’t be booked again. Build relationships and friendships with your co-workers.
What music do you like?
I like hip hop, dance, R n’ B, and anything with a good catchy vibe!
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to have met Marylin Monroe. I admire everything about her. She was a strong, glam, alpha female and inspiration to many.
Something people don’t know about you?
I’m pretty shy at first, but once I open up I am bubbly and outgoing.
What would be a deal breaker on a first date?
Cheapness, I hate a guy who splits the bill or is overly frugal. I love old fashioned chivalry. I like the alpha male type.
Do you support any charity?
Yes, three in fact! The Irish Heart Foundation, PETA and the LA Mission. I am an avid supporter of these charities. I think in today’s day and age, homelessness is such a shame and we must work hard to help these people. The world is full of imbalance, but if everyone helped a little, what a difference we could make!
3 things you can’t leave home without?
My Phone, a hairbrush, and earphones.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Lunch with my friends in West Hollywood, to catch up on the week and just giggle and have a good time
What do you think of Social Media as you are a huge influencer in this category?
Social media has changed the game for so many of us. Now it’s about what the public wants, not who the agencies decide who is ‘good enough’. I was rejected by the first modelling agency I applied too, for being too short… but now my social media account surpasses that of the entire agency and all of its models included. Never take no for an answer.
