Katie’s love of fashion and sharing the endless on-set beauty secrets ultimately led to the creation of PUCKERANDPOUT.COM, a beauty and fashion blog that she is constantly curating with hacks, latest trends and on the go tricks for the working woman on the go such as DIY Turmeric Mask
A Park City, Utah native, Katie is no stranger to the industry, balancing theater and cheerleading in high school while working with a local agency to book commercial shoots and hosting work at an early age. Drawn to the spotlight of working on set, an opportunity presented itself at Utah’s annual Sundance Film Festival that eventually brought her to Los Angeles to work with renowned stylists on clients such as Jamie Pressley and Katherine McPhee.
Where did you grow up?
Park City, Utah. Born and Raised.
How is it working at Lisa’s restaurant and on the TV show?
Sur has been like a second home and family for over 5 years. We started filming the show nearly 3 years ago and quite a lot has changed. My job hasn’t been the same, as much as I try to just come in and do my job, it isn’t always that easy.
Do you guys have a script on what to do or say?
No. Everything that happens in front of the cameras is up to us.
Do you have real friends from the show, outside of the cameras?
Most of us have been friends long before the show began and continue to maintain our friendships in and off camera. So that’s why our show seems too good to be real, because it actually is real relationships with real drama.
Do people recognize you on the street in LA?
Yes, often. They don’t always approach you but aren’t really subtle about it either, like sneaking a photo with their phone.
Have you found that some people have changed now that you guys are famous?
Yes and no. I feel like some people think that I have changed and act a little odd around me or feel uncomfortable for whatever reason. They will say “well now that you are famous and all….” Which I never know how to respond because I don’t view myself or my life any differently.
Can you share something funny that’s happened to you while working at Sur?
I don’t know if it’s funny but one time I was opening a bottle of wine and the entire bottom of the bottle completely blew out from under and the entire bottle spilt everywhere. I stood there in shock for a few moments cause I have never seen or experienced that in my life.
How has your life changed after the TV Show?
It hasn’t really changed dramatically. Strangers I meet know my name and my life which is something to get used to. I have a busier schedule but other than that I have the same friends mostly and live the same life I have been.
What projects you are currently working on?
I have a few ideas I’m playing around with but haven’t gotten off the ground floor yet. Still heavily focusing on Pucker & Pout.

It’s very much a beauty diary of my in the form an online vision/inspiration/information board of my beauty, hair and skin care tips and tricks. I’ve been running the site with a friend for a little over a year!
How often do you update it?
As often as possible. We strive to be consistent with 3 posts per week. My schedule tends to be all over the place so it can be difficult from time to time.
What do you think makes a women beautiful and why?
An easy answer is confidence, but confidence can sometimes be confused with arrogance. I think it’s a woman who has self-respect and conviction about their beliefs. Those qualities often make a woman feel even more comfortable in her skin. Knowing who you are inside and out really makes you shine. Also, taking pride in yourself. That doesn’t mean you need to dress to the nines, but just take care of yourself.
What inspires you?
Perspective. Mine and from others even.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
To actually learn lessons from experience. I have really trained myself not to make the same mistake twice. Also, be true to myself and pick and choose my battles.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 year?
I honestly had given up answering this question 5 years ago. I believe in following your heart. I will be happily married, with a little baby and working either in music or in beauty.
What actor/actress do you admire the most, and why?
I love Jennifer Lawrence. I think she is an extremely self-aware, all around gorgeous woman who doesn’t fall prey to preconceived ideas.
What was the last book you read?
50 Shades of Grey. The third one of the trilogy. I had to prepare myself for the movie.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
With my bubba aka Tom. On a beach with our toes in the sand and not a care in the world!
What are your other hobbies and interests?
Besides the beauty world of make-up and hair ,I love music! I also love to make jewelry. It’s something I have done it for so many years. It’s very cathartic.
